Honoring Her Life

15949_231486693078_1733751_n.jpg

I asked Patty in her last months, what she hoped to be remembered for to which she quickly responded : “I really really tried.”

To her dying day, Patty gave her full self: heart, soul, and time.  She tried more in a single day than most of us do in a lifetime.  The change she made in people’s lives was profound and we can continue to honor her legacy by affecting change in our community.

 A Place to Share

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” – Hunter S. Thompson

Valiant Heart

IMG_5748.jpeg

Patty has been a longtime fan of my music. Having finally met her after many years, she quickly became a source of fearless inspiration for me and a dear friend in these final stages of her journey. Her stories and spirit have forever changed me. As a songwriter, what can one even say about the courage it takes to face death head-on when you know your days are numbered? She's a tough angel herself with a valiant heart, so I knew exactly how I wanted to pay tribute.

I'm beyond honored, humbled, and grateful for the opportunity to set her beautiful, courageous life to music in “Valiant Heart (Patty’s Song)”. While its lyrics speak to death & bravery, this is ultimately a song about acceptance & letting go. I hope it helps you through whatever you may be going through in your life and whatever may be still to come.

Love always,
